Head in sand'
SMALL businesses in Cumbria have a "head in the sand" attitude towards their environmental responsib-ilities, according to the Environment Agency. A survey of small and medium-sized businesses revealed many believed they had little or no environmental impact, yet these firms generated about 60 per cent of the nation's commercial waste and were responsible for as much as 80 per cent of pollution incidents, said Environment Agency officials.
Demand is up
SERVICE and manufacturing firms reported stronger demand in the final quarter of 2002, according to the latest quarterly economic survey from the North West Chambers of Commerce and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Measuring up
Performance management and benchmarking will be discussed South Cumbria Occupational Health and Safety Group's meeting on February 20 at the Netherwood Hotel, Grange-over-Sands, starting at 2pm.
