AN ELECTRICAL fire in the basement of the County Hotel, Carnforth, destroyed a Norweb incoming cable joint and half a metre of wooden backboard. Carnforth fire-fighters were called to the fire just after 11pm on Saturday (February 15) and they used two breathing apparatus, a fan, a lighting unit and an extinguisher to put out the flames. The crew returned to their station around two hours later. The hotel said nobody was injured.
