ULVERSTON walking festival attracted record numbers this year as it has established itself as an important date in walkers' diaries.
Within the first few days of the ten-day event - started up by Jean Povey four years ago - it pulled in more than 250 people keen to trample town trails and join informative countryside walks.
"It is our fourth and best year yet," said Mrs Povey. "The good weather helped and we averaged about 18 people per event."
The festival, which consisted of 27 walks covering 100 miles, slide shows and entertainment, ended on Sunday with walks to Rosside and Swarthmoor.
It attracted both locals and people from further afield, including Lancashire and Yorkshire.
