SOME of the top young musicians in the county perform at The Lakes School, Troutbeck Bridge, on Wednesday, April 16 (7.30pm), in Cumbria Youth Orchestra's Easter concert. Under the direction of Timothy Redmond and led by Sam Glover, the players swing into action performing Holst's The Planets suite and two less familiar pieces by 20th composers - Berthold Goldschmidt's Passacaglia and Cecil Coles's Behind the Lines. Also on the bill is Debby Howrie's Cumbria Youth Training Orchestra. Tickets £5 / concessions £2, at the door.
THIS year's Cumbria Local Arts Exhibition promises to be a real Easter treat with work from 150 artists on show in Grasmere Hall from Saturday, April 19, until Sunday, April 27, featuring more than 450 pieces including watercolours, oils, acrylics, pastels, sculpture, pottery and enamelware. Open 10am-5pm daily.
