A NEW business promising printing cartridges that don't cost the earth has opened in Kendal.
Cartridge World specialises in refilling empty ink, bubblejet and laser cartridges and says recycling an old cartridge is not only much cheaper than buying a new one, but is also kinder to the environment because it reduces the number dumped in landfill sites.
Business partners David Clarke and Grahame Lambert say they have had a good response since opening the shop less than a month ago.
Cartridge World is a franchise operation which was originally started in Australia and now has a chain of 240 branches across the UK.
Mr Clarke and Mr Lambert have secured the franchise for South Lakeland and Furness, and have plans to open a second shop in Barrow.
The pair spent three weeks at Cartridge World's base in Adelaide undergoing technical training and gained hands-on experience working in two shops in the UK before opening their own shop in Highgate.
They were supplied with stock, including some 400 different types of ink, suitable for virtually every kind of cartridge, and can also call on technical support if required.
"We are offering a service that will save people a lot of money savings of up to 60 per cent on some new cartridges." Said Mr Clarke.
"Refilled ink and remanu-factured laser cartridges con-tain high quality components, inks and toners, which yield outstanding results. The technology has become so precise that remanufactured cartridges are equivalent to the standard of the new product," added Mr Lambert.
