COUNCILLORS observed a period of silence before Tuesday's full meeting of South Lakeland District Council in memory of a former mayor of Ulverston whose funeral was held in the town last Friday.
The funeral of Ken Crook, 74, was held at Ulverston Parish Church and was followed by cremation at Barrow. Mr Crook, who used to work at Glaxo, was a former chairman of Ulverston Urban District Council and was Mayor of Ulverston in 1979.
He was a South Lakeland district councillor at the time of local government re-organisation in 1974 representing Ulverston East.
