LAKELAND Wobblers finished with a flourish, winning three wins out of the four matches in the final tournament of the season in the National D4 (North) Canoe Polo League at Irlam.
Opening against old rivals Ribble, Wobblers controlled from the start for a 4-2 victory, with Steve Edmondson striking twice for 2-0, but Ribble countered with a goal in off the crossbar in the dying seconds of the first half.
Edmondson completed his hat-trick in the second half, but Ribble replied to make it 3-2 before Tim Mather sealed Wobblers' victory.
An acrimonious match with White Rose followed after an over-zealous tackle by Wobblers' Simon Lewis led to a reaction with both sides then joining the issue at full tilt.
White Rose squandered a dubious penalty awarded against Lewis and an incensed Wobblers took the lead through an Andy Hyde goal.
White Rose were kept at bay until a shot blocked by keeper Ray Waite allowed them to score at the second attempt.
In a hard-fought second half White Rose broke away to score from a half blocked, shot to run out 2-1 winners.
Pennine were up next and it was an even contest until Wobblers caught Pennine on the break and took the lead with an Edmondson goal.
He added another in the second half with Lewis also scoring for a 3-0 win.
Wobblers wound up against Manchester and were on top throughout. Edmondson scored his second hatrick in the 3-0 win .
