Springfields 1-Milnthorpe Corinthians 1
CORINTHIANS secured a priceless point on Tuesday night despite being reduced to ten men in the first half when goalkeeper Russell Sharpe was sent off for handling the ball outside the area.
Corinthians scored against the run of play through Brian Pennington and then almost immediately Springfields equalised.
Milnthorpe's centre forward Mark Smith took over in goal and performed well before he had to be replaced due to a leg injury.
Corinthians third keeper of the game was Jamie Wakeman and he managed to keep a clean sheet to give Corinthians a vital point in their bid to aviod the drop.
Milnthorpe Corinthians ..1
Blackpool Wren Rovers.. 3
SATURDAY'S result summed up Corinthians season missed chances, mistakes and on the wrong end of some dubious refereeing decisions.
Neither keeper was troubled much in a scrappy first half until Blackpool were awarded a controversial penalty that the Wrens centre-forward tucked away for a 1-0 half-time lead.
Corinthians fired on all cylinders for the second half and got back on level terms when Jeff Crossley smashed in a free kick from just outside the area.
But, as so often has been the case this season, a mistake allowed Wrens to regain the lead after a home side defender's header back to the keeper fell short and a Wrens forward nipped in to score.
Corinthians tried in vain to get back into contention, but could not find a way through and the visitors scored again when a strong shot was parried only as far as an on-coming forward.
Milnthorpe Reserves lost 2-0 to Blackrod Town in the league.
