BUDDING thespians with a thirst for history are needed to help bring the past to life in a 17th Century Lakeland farmhouse.
The National Trust is seeking a "Victorian" farmer to help show visitors round at Townend, Troutbeck.
Townend was home to several generations of the Browne family wealthy farmers who built up a large collection of furniture, books and domestic implements, which are on show on the house today.
A living history programme, already up and running at Townend, includes a blast from the past courtesy of Bowness resident Trevor Hinxman, playing Yeoman farmer George Browne.
Dressed in full 1900 regalia Mr Hinxman appears in the farmhouse on most Thursday afternoons. He has proved a hit with visitors who highlighted his work in a recent National Trust survey.
The Trust is now looking for more volunteers to help Mr Hinxman bring Townend's past to life.
Volunteers should have an interest in history and a little acting ability. Training will be provided.
For further details contact the Trust's Community Education Officer Gareth Thomas on 015394 46402.
