FIVE low-cost homes are being planned for a former allotment at Troutbeck Bridge.
Applicant Roger Burrow, of Kendal, is hoping to persuade the Lake District National Park Authority to approve his proposal to build the terraced houses on a half-acre site at Back Acre, Brook Street.
"We want it to be a good standard of low cost housing, hopefully bought by people who live locally rather than the vast majority of houses in Troutbeck Bridge," said Mr Burrow. "We are trying to enhance the community."
A previous planning application to put two larger homes on the plot has been withdrawn in favour of the five-house plan after the LDNPA advised that smaller properties would be more in keeping with the surrounding area.
A new access into the site from Brook Street is proposed along with the widening of an adjoining road onto the A591, Calgarth View.
