A RARE 150-year-old Kendal bank note fetched £720 at auction in London.
The monochrome £5 note, issued by the Bank of Westmorland in the early 1800s, had been predicted to fetch £500.
The rare currency, which went under the hammer at Spinks and Sons auction house, is illustrated with an engraved Lakeland scene and maidens.
