AN ENTRY of 180 contested Kendal Golf Club's monthly medal. Mark Billington, 70-9-61, won the first division. Steve Rothwell, 70-8-62, was second and Mark Cleasby, 69-6-63, third. Len Cornthwaite had the best gross with a 71.
Kendal junior Graeme Archer, 75-13-62, won the second division from Tim Bescoby, 82-18-64, and Mark Hutchings, 85-20-65, in second and third respectively. Aubrey Clarkson had the best gross with a 78.
Lombard Trophy qualifying was combined with the medal and Mark Billington qualified to represent the club together with club professional Peter Scott at Hesketh Golf Club in May.
Steve Rothwell and Hugh Boyle, 74-9-65, won the Famous Grouse Foursomes.
Sid Roe and George Irons, 78-12-66, were runners-up. In third were John Chambers and Mike Heap (75-7.5-67.5); fourth, Gordon Andrew & Ian Grant 77-9-68; and fifth, Nick Bone and Peter Nelson, 75-6.5-68.5.
Kirkby Lonsdale
VICTORY in the Cornvale Scramble on Sunday went to G. Curtin, M. Turner, R. Day and D. Lyett, 62-3.6-58.4 from runners-up N. Meadows, J. Parsons, J. Kettlewell & D. Hacking, 65-6-59.
In third and fourth respectively were J. DeRosier, C. Brown, T. Brown & M. Smith, 65-4.9-60.1, and M. Wilson, K. Tattersall, G. Postlethwaite & M. Palmer 67-5.7-61.3.
Windermere
A PRE-season competition at Widnermere followed the unusual format of six holes of four ball betterball, six holes of greensome and a final six holes of foursome.
It took a card play-off to separate the eventual winners T. Kelly and G. Wilkinson on 44 points from runners-ups S. Field and S. Bell, 44 points.
Other placings were D. Berry and P. Sarginson third on 41 points, K. Dunlop and M. Cunningham fourth on 40 points, A. Pickering and G. Ross fifth on 40 points, K. Butterworth and H. Wright sixth on 40 points.

Bentham
ALAN Bruns, the President of Bentham Golf Club, partnered by Andy Chappell, won The Patrickson Cup with a net score of 66.
The Patrickson is the first foursomes event of the season and the winners automatically qualify as the club's representatives in the national Daily Mail competition. Andrew Robinson and Mark Dixon were in second place.
