POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an 18-year-old Oxenholme cyclist was left with serious head injuries after being knocked from her bike while taking part in a time trial.
Lynn Hamel, a member of the Kent Valley Road Club, was thrown from her bike on the A6 just south of Milnthorpe shortly after 7pm on Wednesday night.
Police believe she may have been struck by the trailer of a passing tractor. The teenager, who was part of a 32-strong group taking part in the club's mid-week time trial, was taken to the intensive care unit of the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and was said yesterday to be in a "comfortable" condition.
Witnesses with any information should contact Kendal police on 01539-722611.
