Police are treating as suspicious the death of a man found Friday next to a minor road just to the north of Killington Lake off the M6.
A post mortem carried out by a Home Office pathologist revealed the cause of death to be head injuries. The man had been dead some hours before being found. The body had been burned.
The body is that of a man aged 30 to 50 years, of short, stocky build, no taller than 5'6'', with brown eyes and dark brown hair. He was found wearing dark trousers, a dark red polo shirt and black leather slip-on shoes. The police believe the body had been there no later than 6:30 am Friday.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw a suspicious person or vehicle in the area before 6:30 am to contact the incident room at 01539 722611.
Police are also trying to trace people who work at or stayed at Killington Lake Services, anyone who had recently used the road or anglers who had used the Lake.
