THE END of Kendal's adventure in National League rugby - for the time being at least - came when they finished off the season with a 20-10 victory at fellow relegation sufferers Fylde on Saturday.
It was not a great spectacle to watch but Kendal wanted the win most and completed the job in workmanlike style with two Mike Scott penalties giving them a 6-3 half-time lead before tries from scrum-half Mark Airey and left wing Tim Whitehead, both converted, made up their points tally.
Fylde responded with a late try by flanker Carl Lavin, converted by Phil Macey.
Kendal's long-serving prop Ian Thompson went off when his knee trouble set in again and the match marked probably his retirement from first-team rugby after many years' loyal service.
Elsewhere in the league, Wharfedale managed to avoid the drop by winning at Harrogate, leaving Plymouth-based Launceston as the third relegated club.
