A FIREARMS amnesty has seen 218 weapons handed in across Cumbria over the last three weeks.
The haul has included 52 shotguns, 16 rifles and 22 pistols as well as air-powered weapons, hand grenades and 3,000 rounds of ammunition.
Police, however, say they are disappointed that only seven replica guns had so far been handed in. Appealing for more, Inspector Andy Sargent said replica weapons were often so realistic that they could be hard to tell apart from real guns, even by trained officers.
The national firearms amnesty runs to April 30.
