ENCOURAGING visitors to explore the outer limits of Cumbria is the aim of a new guide launched by television broadcaster Eric Robson.
Mr Robson, who is chairman of Cumbria Tourist Board, called in at Farfield Mill, Sedbergh, as part of a whistle-stop tour of the county to promote the Hidden Treasures guide.
He also visited Furness Abbey, Whitehaven Harbour, Carlisle Castle and Hutton-in-the-Forest where he opened a treasure chest filled with guides that he presented to tourism representatives in each area.
"Many people simply don't know how much these parts of Cumbria have to offer," said Mr Robson, who is also the presenter of the BBC's Gardener's Question Time. "The fact is they include some of England's most beautiful and peaceful countryside, romantic ruins, impressive stately homes and gardens and much more.
"This campaign should encourage more people to come and find out about these hidden treasures for themselves."
