KENDAL Choral Society is staging a Celebration of English Music through the Ages cabaret style.
Conducted by Alan Gardner, the society's innovative and versatile membership will take to the Kendal Town Hall stage on Saturday, May 10 (7.30pm), performing everything from madrigals to folk songs, romantic ballads and Gilbert and Sullivan to Andrew Lloyd Webber showstoppers.
Featuring popular contralto Janet Hoyle and Lancashire Life Morecambe Brass Ensemble, the concert also includes a special 30-minute interval for the audience to have a picnic'.
I'm informed that the society "provides the tables for your spread" - you just bring food, drinks, and glasses.
The grand finale is a 50th anniversary celebration of the Queen's Coronation with a flag-waving finish (if you've got one) in Land of Hope and Glory.
Admission is by programme (£6) from choir members or the tourist information centre with all proceeds towards the Kendal-based New Home, New Beginnings Appeal, set-up to provide accommodation for destitute, street children in Kiev.
