THE Holker Garden Festival celebrates its 11th year with a jam-packed three-day event.

This year the May 30-June 1 festival will boast new entries like the Herb Marquee as well as old favourites, the Great Horticultural Marquee and the Floral Art display.

The Made in Cumbria food hall will be holding cookery demonstrations by celebrity chefs offering tempting treats for visitors to sample in the Garden Festival restaurant.

There will also be hundreds of trade stands brimming with garden products, country clothing, wines and hand-crafted gifts while children will be kept amused by Punch and Judy shows and entertainment at the Little Seedlings Crche.

Joining the Festival for the second year will be Clarissa Dickson Wright and 80s pop icon turned gardener Kim Wilde. Kim, known for her programme Garden Invaders, will be creating a bespoke garden during the Festival.

One of the greatest joys of Holker is the 25-acre formal garden, while the grounds surrounding the Hall and gardens provide stunning walks with a new addition Lady Cavendish's labyrinth. Another attraction is the Lakeland Motor Museum which features the Campbell Bluebird Legend exhibition and an extensive collection of transport and motoring memorabilia.

The South Lakes Citizen has teamed up with Lord and Lady Cavendish of Holker Hall to offer 20 readers free tickets to the green-fingered event.
