THE Eden Attractions Group is to repeat its special offer week for local people to enjoy the visitor attractions on their own doorstep.
Last year hundreds of local people enjoyed visiting the places they often advise their visitors to go, at a special rate.
Eden Attractions Group, which is co-ordinated by Eden District Council's tourism manager, has decided to repeat its approach to encouraging local people to holiday at home' by opening their doors to the residents of Eden and offering free or discounted admission and hospitality from May 20-26, 2003.
The initiative, which is now in its second year, is known as Residents Open Week and aims to allow people to sample some of the delights of their local attractions at special rates. This year the scheme has been extended over two weekends to allow people with school-age children to take advantage.
In 2002, 975 residents took part in the scheme, and the feedback was very positive.
Taking part in the scheme is very simple. The only qualification needed is proof of local residency, which can be presented at any of the listed Tourist Information Centres in exchange for a pass and list of discounts available from May 13.
