EDEN District Council's Community and Economy Committee has agreed to review the method by which awards of Leisure grants to organisations and individuals are distributed throughout the financial year.
The Leisure Grant Fund supports community-based organisations and individuals undertaking sport, arts and leisure related activities and, due to increased pressure on the resources available, it was agreed that a more structured approach to the awarding of grants would be supported.
During the financial year (April March) there will be three funding rounds to which constituted community groups and individuals competing at national and international level can apply for grant assistance. If the budget set at one funding round is not met then the balance will be carried over to the next round.
If an organisation or individual is refused support due to insufficient funds the applicant will be able to reapply to the Community and Economy Committee once more during the same financial year.
Those wishing to apply to the council for a Leisure Fund Grant have three possible deadlines: May 9, August 1 and September 26 2003.
