THIS weeks is the time for those who have thought about picking up a new skill but never quite got around to it to put their plans into action.

From Saturday until May 17 a plethora of events is taking place up and down the country to mark the annual showcase of Adult Learners' Week (ALW) a festival of taster sessions, road shows, open days and exhibitions to tempt people back into learning.

Reporter Jennie Dennett takes a look at what's on, hears from the South Lakeland winner of the annual ALW awards and finds out about the joys of getting techie in one's twilight years.
