CONDITIONS were perfect for the beginning of this year's season of windsurf racing at Killington,
On a sunny evening with a westerly Force Three wind blowing, racing began with dagger-board planing conditions.
Mike Hardy took the lead in the first race and won by a large margin. John Pawson missed the start of the second race, having damaged his fin and forced to make a quick repair.
The third race proved the most exciting with Dan Jackson, Pawson and Phil Atherton taking a close-hauled course to the windward mark and Hardy taking the faster, but longer, broader course.
Jackson reached the mark first and sailed on to win with Hardy and Pawson neck and neck until Pawson took second by a couple of feet.
Hardy was the evening's overall winner. Racing will take place on Thursday evenings at Killington Lake from now until mid- September starting at 6.45pm.
