SCHOOLS are to get a cash bonus for helping pupils achieve high or improved test results last year.
The money is to be distributed out by the Department for Education and Skills to those primary and secondary schools where pupil performance was "substantially" better in 2002 than 1999. Schools that came out of special measures in the 2001/02 school year will also get a cash boost.
The hand-outs range from £1,050 for Langdale CE School to £32,170 for Queen Katherine School, at Kendal.
Those schools getting money in South Lakeland, Eden and Furness are: Milnthorpe Primary, £4,870; Long Marton School, Appleby, £1,310; Ghyllside Primary, Kendal, £8,080; Stramongate Primary, Kendal, £7,410; Hawkshead Esthwaite Primary, £1,750; Croftlands Infant, Ulverston, £4,850; Allithwaite CE Primary, £2,130; Broughton-in-Furness CE School, £2,490; Langdale CE School, £1,050; St Mary's CE Primary, Carnforth, £4,520; Dent CE Voluntary Aided School, £1,500; Dean Gibson Catholic Primary, Kendal, £3,950; Leven Valley CE Primary, £1,640; Penny Bridge CE School, £1,730; Ulverston CE Infant School, £2,470; Warcop CE Primary, £1,690; Settlebeck High School, Sedbergh, £7,460; Dowdales School, Dalton, £20,820; Ireleth St Peter's CE Primary, £2,030; Heversham St Peter's CE Primary, £2,240; Queen Katherine School, Kendal, £32,170; Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale, £27,960.
