PUPILS at an Ulverston infants school are achieving "well above average" - that was just one area highlighted by inspectors in a glowing Ofsted report.
The quality of teaching was also very good at Croftlands Infant School and there was "excellent" coverage of the national curriculum.
Inspectors could not find any significant areas for improvement at the school on Oakwood Drive.
The report said the school had made "very good improvement" since the last inspection in 1997.
Leadership at the 208-pupil school was also praised by inspectors: "The excellent ethos for learning is successfully promoted by high quality leadership and management. The school gives very good value for money."
Inspectors said during their visit, they witnessed some very high standards of work by the pupils. "Pupils read fluently and with good expression by year two. They write at length and express their ideas well on a wide range of subjects."
Head teacher Jane Smith said: "Everybody involved in the report is really pleased. It is good team work that makes a successful school and here, the governors, the teachers and the nursery staff work to the best they can all the time."
