CUMBRIA County Council's Eden Local Committee has agreed to give Eden Arts £1,000 towards putting on the 12th North Pennine Storytelling Festival.
The annual festival takes place between September 26-28 with events taking place in Appleby, Alston, Melmerby and Langwathby and is managed by the Northern Pennine Arts Working Group.
Some of the activities planned include a story walk at Nenthead Mines and children's Saturday morning storytelling at Alston library. There are also likely to be events at Appleby Heritage Centre, Melmerby Village Hall and Ostrich World, Langwathby, with the festival finale at Alston Town Hall.
"Funding events like this in Eden gives people the chance to participate in community activities, promoting rural life and social inclusion for people in rural communities," said Coun Mary Warburton, chair of Eden Local Committee. "Community projects enable people to get together, avoiding the isolation that can result from living in a rural area like Eden."
