SEVEN days of satisfaction with the emphasis on action - that's the Vegetarian Society's promise for its 2003 national vegetarian week celebrations (May 19-25).
The seven basic recipes - six of which are printed below - are simple to prepare and use cheap, easily available ingredients.
The society's challenge to veggie-minded foodies is to use these recipes as a healthy and balanced building block for a little kitchen creativity of your own.
"We believe that the recipes have an almost infinite number of veggie variations," said a spokesman for the society.
The challenge is to interpret and adapt them to suit your own personal taste, style and budget. And then let me know what you've come up with!
Send your variations' to Food & Drink, c/o The Westmorland Gazette, 22 Stricklandgate, Kendal, LA9 4NE, and we will try to feature your recipe ideas in a future issue.
