MARKET day in Ulverston was extra busy as proud parents and members of the public flooded the streets to watch this year's Flag Festival parade.
More than 200 pupils from Church Walk, Pennington, Croftlands Junior and St Mary's C of E Schools took part in the event. For the first time in the history of the festival, youngsters from Sandside Lodge School also took part in the parade.
Numerous flags made by the pupils filled the streets as drummers led them from the Coronation Hall to the Market Cross.
The mayor of Ulverston, Coun Dave Miller, was presented with a flag made especially by Sandside Lodge School.
He said: "Ulverston Town Council has even got its own flag for this year's festival thanks to pupils at Pennington School. It is great to see that so many young people have taken part. I would just like to thank everybody who has been involved as it is a credit to the town."
The two-week festival, which sees between 150 and 200 business and residents taking part by flying flags outside their properties, was launched five years ago. It started on Saturday, May 3, and finishes tomorrow.
