EMPLOYERS can influence future thinking on ways to sharpen the county's skills base at a consultation meeting being organised by Cumbria Learning and Skills Council.

The event takes place at the Rheged visitor centre, Penrith, on Monday, May 19, starting at 3pm. It follows a similar meeting at Carlisle Racecourse last month.

Mick Farley, executive director of the Cumbria LSC, said the county had a legacy of adults in the workforce with low skills, and the issue needed to be addressed if Cumbria was to prosper and grow.
