POST Office proposals to restructure its network of urban outlets will come under the spotlight at a meeting of Cumbria County Council's Cabinet on Tuesday. Representatives of the Royal Mail and Post Office Ltd will talk about moves which could see the merger and closure of some offices under an Urban Network Reinvention Programme. Council leader Rex Toft said it seemed like a programme of rationalisation was planned based around commercial viability.
A decision on the future of closure-threatened Beast Banks Post Office, at Greenside, Kendal, had not yet been made by Post Office bosses as the Gazette went to press.
