THERE were British titles for South Lakeland-based orienteers at the British Championships at the weekend.
The top honours went to Beryl Offley of Lakeland OC at W50 and Martin Bagness of Warrior OC at M40 in competition at Wharncliffe Woods, near Sheffield.
Other local runners performed well with Ross Thistlethwaite second on M14A and Charlotte Somers-Cocks 3rd on W40L.
In the short classes, Julia Laverack of Warrior OC won W35 with Heather Butterfield (LOC) second at W21, Louise Ramsden second at W20, Rose Saunders second at W50 and Angela Heppenstall second at W60.
There were wins on the junior B courses for Stuart Robinson (M16), Luke Tarr (M18), Emily Scragg (W16) and Siobhan Tyson (W18) and second place on W16 for Alexandra Emms.
