SIDECAR RACING: Appleby-based sidecar ace Andy Laidlow, twice Scottish champion and last year's F2 title winner, is preparing for a title at the Isle of Man TT races which start next week.

After a disappointing non-finish at Donnington due to electrical problems, Laidlow and his passenger Patrick Farrance - were relieved to find they are still lying in second place in the British F2 series and only five points adrift of the series leader. They decided to do two days' club racing at East Fortune in Scotland in the hope of disagnosing and curing the fault before setting off to the TT and, when the gremlins struck again in practice, they traced the problem and solved it. Despite starting from the back of the grid, they dominated every race and broke the lap record.

After the TT, it's off to the next round of the British series at East Fortune on July 19-20.
