ONE half of BBC Radio 1's Mark and Lard is set to roll up at the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal, next week.

In a strange-but-true type scenario it turns out that DJ Mahone of The Family Mahone is no other than Mark Radcliffe of the hugely successful afternoon radio show at the Beeb.

The Family Mahone are billed as raucous up-beat folk in the spirit of The Pogues, so expect drinking songs galore

Their set should have you feeling right at home as many of the band's songs are based in northern towns.

Spot familiar faces, places and scenarios in their lyrics as they explore the wonders of the pubs and the pints of the glorious North.

Expect a jumping night in the Malt Room - The Mahones may just have found their spiritual home. Doors open at 8.30pm. Call the box office on 01539-725133 to get your hands on one of the few tickets left.

Meanwhile, on May 28, there will be a chance to kiss the week's woes goodbye when Dr Feelgood take hold of the microphone.

One of the most popular and well recognised live rhythm and blues acts on the scene, Dr Feelgood make it their personal mission to live up to their namesake.

Feel the endorphins flow as the band unleash their raw, uncompromising style which saw them bag a number one chart position with their album Stupidity.

No slackers on stage the Dr Feelgood crew put in a dynamic performance and expect the same from their audience so get onto that dance floor.

Their string of hit singles includes Milk and Alcohol, Down at the Doctors, Roxette and She's a Wind Up as well as See you later Alligator.

The band's current line-up is led by drummer Kevin Morris and features Steve Walwyn on lead guitar, Phil Mitchell on bass and vocalist Robert Kane, formerly of The Animals.
