CASTERTON School has a growing reputation for drama, with this year's productions of Grease and The House of Bernarda Alba attracting critical acclaim. The school does not permit GCSE and A-level candidates to take part in these events, but Casterton's Year 11 German students found a cunning way around this rule. As a break from their revision, they rehearsed and presented their own play, in German. Aschenputtel, the German version of Cinderella, was performed by a cast of 12, directed by German teacher Christine Cochrane and German assistant Manja Kurschner, complete with song and dance and colourful costumes, and subtitles were even provided.
