PLANS to build a major new housing estate in Ulverston look set to be given the green light next week despite concerns raised by town councillors.
Preston-based Persimmon Homes wants to build 116 three and four-bedroom houses, including 25 affordable homes, at Lund Farm on North Lonsdale Road.
In February, the application was deferred for further negotiations to take place about concerns over drainage and access onto the A590. The developers have satisfied the Environment Agency that the development will not cause flooding by agreeing to carry out work on the drains.
They have also agreed with the Highways Agency to build a mini-roundabout to deal with increased traffic onto the A590 from North Lonsdale Terrace.
But despite the improvements, members of Ulverston Town Council have recommended the scheme for refusal when it is discussed at next Thursday's meeting of South Lakeland District Council's planning committee.
