STUDENTS from Windermere St Anne's School were narrowly pipped at the post in their bid to become county champions in the Young Enterprise competition.
The young tycoons, who produced a CD-ROM promoting the Lake District, finished runners-up behind Workington 6th Form Centre in the county final. However, the Windermere students featured in the top three places for seven of the individual prizes. They were outright winners of the prizes for best business development; personal development of company directors; and most enterprising company.
They were also third
in The Westmorland Gazette-sponsored prize for best company promotion, which was won by Appleby Grammar School. Appleby students were placed joint third overall in the county final, and were also recognised in six of the individual prizes.
Young Enterprise development manager Fran Bradley praised the high standard of all five companies competing in the county final.
