ERIC Wright Civil Engineering has been nominated for a national award for its work on Greenside Mines, near Ullswater.
The firm, part of the Preston-based Eric Wright Group, is in the running for the small project of the year prize in the Construction News Awards.
The Lake District National Park Authority awarded a £850,000 contract to the firm to reclaim and stabilise redundant lead mine waste heaps and structures on the scheduled ancient monument, owned by the authority.
The Eric Wright Group is now working on the redevelopment of The Westmorland Gazette site in Kendal including a new Booths supermarket, offices for the Gazette, shops, apartments and car parking on two decks which represents a £20 million investment in the town.
