CUMBRIA Wildlife Trust celebrates the opening of its new headquarters at Plumgarths, Kendal, with an open week.

The event starts on Monday with a garden party which will see free guided-walks around the historic house and gardens.

Wildlife-themed games and activities will entertain youngsters while plant sales, stalls, expert wildlife gardening advice and music from the Front Parlour Band will keep adults busy

An Explorer Day on May 28 will see an activity day for children and the chance to get up close and personal with minibeasts.

The offices and gardens will be open throughout the week with a member of staff on hand to answer queries.

Helen Haydock, funding and development manager for Cumbria Wildlife Trust, said: "The garden party will be a fun way for people to learn more about local wildlife and help raise money to protect it at the same time. There should be something for everyone."
