TWO early morning accidents caused major traffic tailbacks on the A590 today.
The accidents between Greenodd and Bouth Road end happened within yards and minutes of each other. The first, involving a Peugeot 405 driven by the Ulverston man, happened at 6.35am when his car left the road and hit a wall.
The second involved a Ford Fiesta driven by an Ulverston woman and happened shortly before 7 am.
The driver of the Peugeot, who asked not to be named, received minor injuries but police said he did not need hospital treatment.
The woman, who police did not name as she asked not to be identified, escaped uninjured.
The accidents caused major tailbacks with stationery traffic as far back as Newby Bridge.
A campaign to improve road safety on the A590 has been underway for sometime. Government officers are investigating the issue and options for improvements
