KENDAL Golf Club fared impressively at the North West Regional Final of the Lombard Trophy. Kendal professional Peter Scott and amateur Mark Billington finished joint fourth along with Penrith's Garry Key and Peter Ware after posting a three-under-par round of 69.
The event was won by the Ashton pairing of Peter Allan and Steve Robinson who finished five-under.
Windermere's Stephen Rooke and Andrew Waple were joint 32nd after a two-over par 74.
The Financial Manage-ment-sponsored Pro-Am weekend at Kendal went ahead in terrible weather.
Heavy rain on Saturday did not deter 69 teams in the Three Sixes competition, which ended with D. Blamire, M. Hutchings and J. Boyle winning with a combined score of 127, but only after a card play-off with M. Shepherd, W. Heap and S. Atkinson, also on 127.
Third place went to A. Earl, W. Fisher and B. Hayton on 129.
Rain was still around and also strong winds for Sunday's Pro-Am when a good score of 17-under-par by the Over Forties Club secured victory after a card play-off with the Also Rans.
In third place, two shots behind, were Acorn Developments and together on 12-under were Anything Technical and the Clancy Clan. The final three prizes went to Cumbria Heating Components A, Marshalls
and Horner Lakeland Developments, all on 10-under. Penrith's Garry Kay was the winning professional with a two-shot cushion over Simon Edwards. All profits from the weekend went to Cancer Care.
