FORMER sports minister Kate Hoey MP is to lead a protest rally against the 10mph speed limit on Windermere on Saturday, May 31.
The Labour backbencher, former junior minister in the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, is expected to lead a parade in Bowness Bay of more than 250 boats and thousands of people.
The rally is being organised by Keep Windermere Alive and Windermere Action Force. They have pooled their resources and are spending more than £5,000 to organise the protest event.
There will also be attractions on the edge of The Glebe, Bowness, including a marquee and video screens.
The 10mph limit is to be imposed in 2005.
