A POLITICAL alliance forged between Conservatives and Liberal Democrats at Cumbria County Council is set to last a further two years.
The partnership formed in June 2001 has seen the two parties voting together on issues from home care to education.
At a special press conference yesterday, CCC leader Rex Toft and deputy leader Mike Ash said they had achieved a lot together and, despite differences in national politics, they had always found a compromise on significant issues. Labour leader Stewart Young said he was not surprised by the announcement which meant two more years of very damaging policies for the people of Cumbria which the Labour group would continue to oppose.
