JIMMY Moffatt, the former jockey who has taken over from his father Dudley as the boss at Pit Farm Stables just a stone's throw away from Cartmel racecourse is double-handed in his bid to win the Tote Exacta Handicap Hurdle at his local track today.

Moffatt saddles the well-fancied Vilprano and Deb's Son for the £5,0000 three mile, two furlong contest and you can bet the locals will be having a few bob on one of them winning.

Cartmel's Bank Holiday meeting got off to a great start for another South Lakeland trainer Martin Todhunter, whose Raw Silk won the opening race on Saturday's card at 3-1 appropriately for the owners, the Cartmel Syndicate.

The five-year-old Rudimentary gelding has been a model of consistency, never finishing out of the frame in its last five outings and was returned as a 3-1 shot.

Racing at Cartmel starts at 2.15pm and the going forecast is good (good to soft in places).
