ULVERSTON is the base for the new All-England karate champion at Kata.

He is Patrick Mills, a 35-year-old 3rd Dan, who took the prestigious title at the All England Open Championships at Reading.

He won a silver medal representing England at the European Championships and Mr Mills attributes his new title at Kata fighting moves practised against an imaginary opponent to dedicating more time to the sport.
