RESIDENTS are being invited to play a part in preserving their environment while improving access to the countryside.

The Lancashire Local Access Forum has various vacancies for people with experience of recreational use and land management, or an interest in land, nature conservation and heritage, tourism, health, business, trade unions and transport

Set up in 2001, the forum advises local authorities on how to improve access to the countryside and also scrutinises Lancashire's Rights of Way Improvement Plan

Chairman Richard Toon says: "Our countryside makes a big contribution to life in Lancashire and is one of our biggest tourist attractions. By becoming a forum member you will play a part in preserving the county's environment and ensuring everyone with an interest in the countryside has a say in its future."

For more details on the forum, which meets at least twice a year, contact the Lancashire Countryside Service, at Lancashire County Council on 01772 534709 or visit http://www.lancsenvironment.com
