ORTON farmers market is set to expand to Pooley Bridge for the tourist season. Organisers at the thriving local produce market will hold the first "satellite" market at Pooley Bridge on June 29, and then on the last Sunday of every month until September.

Market organiser Jane Brook said: "There are less that 100 residents of the lakeside village, but more than 2,000 visitors staying at caravan and campsites. Many visitors bring food with them or make a ten-mile trip to the nearest supermarket. We're sure they'll be pleased to have the opportunity to buy local produce at the market.

"The market will start at 10.30am rather than the 9.30 start at Orton to give holidaymakers time to get out of bed. But otherwise we hope to repeat the formula that has made Orton so popular."
