FARMERS in Cumbria and Lancashire can expect a visit from the Environment Agency this summer to check on sheep dip disposal. On farm disposal of dips and pesticides requires written consent from the EA to protect groundwater from contamination. EA officer Hilary Leighton said that, as well as checking on farms authorised for disposal: "We will be seeking out farmers who are disposing of dips and pesticides without authorisation."
