TWO volunteers are needed to step into the shoes of a pair of long-serving parish councillors. Coun Bill Jackson and Coun George Airey had completed nearly 100 years of service on Lower Allithwaite Parish Council between them when they stood down at the last parish council election. Council clerk Rosemary Balance said the parish council missed their wisdom and expertise and was now on the look out for people to fill their vacant seats. Anyone interested in representing the Allithwaite Ward should apply to the clerk at The Coach House, Flookburgh Road, Allithwaite, LA11 7RJ by Thursday, June 5.
