A warm dry afternoon on Saturday attracted a large crowd of people to the Hutton Roof Country Fair and Fell Race.
This is the second year that five of the village's own youngsters have entered the races. Hutton Roof Harriers competed well against some strong runners. Jack Dickinson competed in the under 12 and Joe Parsons in the under 16. Jack won the Hutton Roof Local Trophy by a few seconds from last year's winner Joe Parsons.
Altogether there were 119 competitors in the Six Category National Fell Running Junior Championship races.
Two hundred and thirty three senior fell runners left the field for the seven-mile run over Hutton Roof and Farleton Knott. Going under foot was soft and no new records were set.
The first back was Mark Croasdale, of Bingley, in 48mins 16secs - he was presented with the Sheepskin Warehouse Trophy; 2 G. Ehrhardt; 3 T. Tipping. First veteran over 40 was R. Haworth; veteran over 50 T. Hesketh; veteran over 60 S. Williams; veteran over 70 A.J. Ball.
First woman home was L. Clough in 58mins 14secs. Ladies veteran over 40 was K. Beaty; over 45 V. Peacock.
Children's races were fitted in among events.

On the village hall field were displays of varieties of sheep breeds, hens and vintage vehicles and stalls, demonstrations of crook, felt and kite making.
Warton Art and Crafts group demonstrated spinning and kumihimo Japanese braiding in the village hall.
The afternoon ended with games of tug-o-war and a tuck into a fantastic amount of home-made cakes served up by ladies of the village hall committee.
St John's Church was open for the afternoon with a themed flower display by the ladies of the church committee to celebrate the Queen's Coronation and the conquering of Everest. Margaret Lambert, church organist, played requested tunes on the organ and the home-made preserve stall did a brisk trade.
