BMXers and skateboarders are gathering in Halton for a special money-spinning weekend.
The second annual Halton Skatepark event is being staged this Saturday and Sunday (May 31/ June 1) at the youth and community centre, Low Road, in a bid to raise funds to enhance the much-used facilities.
Tickets cost £5 for the all weekend session, which will feature skating, freestyle BMX, bike trails, a street park and the new mini ramp along with other attractions.
Spectators are invited to make donations.
Centre volunteer and event organiser Joe Welbourne explains: "After the success of our last skate park event we are holding another weekend of skateboarding and BMX free style.
"Having proved that a skate park can be run successfully, local riders have used the money raised from the last event about £500 - to build a new five-feet high mini ramp.
"It will be the main attraction along with music by local bands and DJs."
The event has been sponsored by Halton Parish Council and Blue Tubes, which is providing competition prizes.
"People come from all over places like Barrow, Preston and Kirkby Lonsdale to use the facilities," says 30-year-old Joe.
"It keeps the young people really occupied and it is creative. It appeals to all ages boys and girls and it is a good place to practice the skills."
